How can I learn a new language? What is the best way to learn a language? Where do I start? I bought at least ten language learning methods. All of them were not very helpful. So I started thinking, how would a great language learning method be organized? I thought that the words I learn first will really be important and I should choose them carefully. I started with who, what, where, when, and why because they are all very helpful one word questions. I put all the small sentence words first like to, go, from, come and with in the first four lessons. I reasoned that when I got to phrases I would know what the individual words were. Then I grouped words into twenty word lessons. I put some in word groups like family, food and body. I also put the opposites like "hot" and "cold" together because it made sense to me. I spelled them all phonetically so I could read and remember the spelling. So I thought, "Now I have a logical approach to learn from." I have found to learn a language is easy. I can learn many words each day. The problem is I forget them. Learning words is not the difficult part, remembering them is the challenge. Word recall is the most important part of language learning. So I put all the words on a study page. I could see the words spelled phonetically so I could remember them. I put the correct native spelling next to the phonetic. I recorded a native speaker saying the words so all I had to do was click them to listen. I reasoned that what is needed is a way to practice recall of them so I devised a simple multiple choice game that I could test my self with after I studied the words. A question word appears and you have eight choices to match the word. The repetition of my word game solved my memory problem for me. I then added a user lessons page. I made a page where I could choose from any of the more than two thousand words in my database. I can then make up lessons of only the words I want to learn. But I was lonely so I created a virtual teacher to monitor my work. I gave her the ability to pop quiz me on the words I got wrong in the game. After every two times I play the game she pop quizzes me only on the words I got wrong. She even reminds me of good learning habits. Sometimes I don't want to listen to her so I turn her voice off. She does reward me for learning. If I get seven perfect scores in seven different lessons she gives me a free study credit! Next I thought, "How do I learn grammar?" So I questioned a native speaker and wrote grammar rules down in a way that explains the grammar and gives you sentence examples of how to use it. I can study grammar as I am learning the word groups. After all this I realized that spelling is remembering so I made a section where I could practice spelling. I designed it so I could spell the native or phonetic spelling and it tells me when I get it right. All of my creation is now what I call the World Word Exchange. My lessons wait for you there. You can test it for free! Everyone who signs up gets a free trial lesson! Lessons cost as low as $4 per half hour. There is no contract or commitment. Grammar and spelling practice sections are designed to be opened before the game timer runs out. They will stay open until you close them. Currently we teach Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and Thai.
